Order of the Raven has been in existence in WoW since the game started in 2005, and was initially started by a number of friends who played in the same Everquest raiding guild previously. Since then, Order of the Raven has become the top PvE Progression guild on the Aggramar-US server, a title that has been held since when Blackwing Lair was originally released.
Over time, OTR has evolved and grown, adding new members as needed and has gained a reputation on Aggramar for being a respectable guild with friendly, skilled, and mature members. We value that reputation, and wish to continue that tradition as we push ahead at the very edge of end-game raiding content.
We are a progression-based raiding guild. We are always seeking to push new content, and will often take old content off the schedule in pursuit of new kills. We are always looking to take that next step, as opposed to retracing ones previously made.
We do our best to run raids in an efficient, professional manner. We have shorter raid times than most guilds and we strive to make the most of that time.
We like to have fun when we aren't raiding. Zul'Aman, Karazhan, Saturday pickup Gruul raids, heroics and pvp are done by our members away from raid times.
We raid Sunday thru Friday from 7 CST to 10 CST. On a rare occasion, some raids may go to 10:30 CST. Be prepared for raid invites to go out at 6:30pm CST.
You must have a reliable connection/computer. DC'ing every 30 minutes in the raid is going to lead to your application being terminated. You also must be able to have your computer function at a reasonable frame rate with massive AoE going off.
You have the best gear you have means to obtain, and have put the effort in enchanting and gemming your gear with the optimal selections. We don't expect everyone to have full tier 6 and Sunwell Plateau gear, but we do expect that you're wearing gear that is as close to our level as is possible. If you've never been in a raid guild before, you aren't going to have raid level gear.
(Note on gear: Don't let your current gear hold you back from applying. It's very easy to tell if you've put in the effort to get the best gear you can get.)
Your goal is to make every raid. While it's not realistic to expect someone to actually make every raid (real life happens), we are looking for people who want to raid everyday. To give a hard number 75% attendance or greater is desired.
You are spec'd (either currently, or willing to respec) for PVE. Our primary focus is defeating PVE content, and your spec and gear should reflect that.
You are always aware of your surroundings and seek to maximize efficiency and output (be it threat, DPS or healing). Raiding requires split second decisions and excellent awareness. We want people who can adapt to adverse situations and who can see the whole picture.
You come to raids/groups fully prepared will all needed Elixirs, Flasks and Potions. This means having a stack of healing/mana pots and elixirs/flasks for the night.
First, please understand that our application process isn't a well oiled machine. Applications are read, screened, reviewed, and discussed before we decide to pursue or can an app. If you send in an application and dont receive a reply for a week or two, well, that's the nature of the beast. If you're looking for instant answers or an instant guildtag, well, I'm sure there's a guild recruiting in Trade Chat as we speak.
If your application has been accepted, there will be a trial period where you will be asked to be available to raid with us for about a week. If things go well, you will be invited to the guild for the 2nd phase of the trial. We do our best to make sure that everyone who becomes a member is an excellent fit in the guild. This is not a quick process.
*Important: Applications are reviewed by the entire membership unless you specifically indicate you would like your application to be confidential.
This process can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 5 or 6 weeks, depending on a number of things, both internal and external. Feel free to ask an Officer or Recruiting Champion at any time if you are unsure of your status.
Once your application is received and reviewed, an officer or a class leader will contact you if we are interested in continuing the recruitment process.
If you are contacted to begin a trial period, it is expected that you are availible from 6:40pm - 10:30pm server on our listed raiding days. Usually we will start this period on a Tuesday, so you are not saved to any instances. On each day, you should contact an officer to let them know you are availible and ready to raid prior to the 6:40pm form time.
This initial trial period usually lasts around a week. It may be extended / shortened as circumstances dictate.
If there are days you will not be available, please advise an officer. We don't expect you to abandon real life just to apply, but we do expect you to have the courtesy to advise us when you will not be available.
Spending your application week being saved to other guilds instances, running heroics during raids times or being afk at form time is going to seriously hinder the recruitment process.
If you need to get in contact with someone within the guild, these are the people who you can come to at any time with your questions or concerns. Please note that only the Guild Master and Officers have the ability to invite people to the guild, but all of the people listed below can help you with any questions you may have. The Recruitment Champions should be your main point of contact when it comes to anything related to recruitment (obviously!). The webmaster is the only person who can activate and deactivate forum accounts.
If you can't find any of these people online, feel free to contact any member of Order of the Raven and ask if any of the officers or recruitment champions are online on alts. Otherwise all of the members of Order of the Raven would be more than happy to help you.
Communication is a two way street. We cannot answer any questions that you don't ask. Don't be afraid to contact an officer if you have any concerns, comments or questions.
