Aggramar's first (alliance-side) Warglaive of Azzinoth!

Friday, May 9, 2008

Something special happened last night and for once it didn't even involve a naked Draenai dancing.

Aww hells yeah! A legendary!

After something like 14 or 15 Illidan kills, Order of the Raven finally received its first legendary [Warglaive of Azzinoth] last night! A server first on the alliance side and a server second overall!

Big grats to Loktovar (pictured below with his shiney new toy), one of our longest-playing members, on receiving the main hand Warglaive! Guess this means we'll have to keep killing Illidan till the off-hand drops!

Grats to Loktovar on his first Warglaive!

Kalecgos freed from enslavement & recruitment updates!

Tuesday, April 15, 2008

First and foremost, I apologize for the lateness of this post. I've been meaning to make it since Saturday, mere hours after we beat the first boss in the Sunwell, but I've been busy. Now, on to business!

Kalecgos, one of the few blue dragons who survived the destruction rendered by Deathwing the Destroyer (formerly Neltharion the Earth-Warder), is lucky to be alive at this point considering what happened to most of the other dragons throughout Azeroth's troubled history. Unfortunately, he got himself caught in quite a bind on the Isle of Quel'Danas. See, Kil'jaeden is a jerk who really gets off on increasing his power, and when he found out that one of the legendary Blue Dragons was nearby, he sent his buddy Sathrovarr the Corruptor to try and take control of Kalecgos.

Bored yet? Fine fine. Long story short, the fine folks in <Order of the Raven> freed Kalecgos from the grips of the Burning Legion on Friday and in return he gave us a bunch of sparkly, purple items! Deathmancer, one of the senior officers of <Order of the Raven>, wanted me to make sure that all the members of the raid received recognition for this particularly fulfilling kill. As such, big thanks and congratulations go out to:

  • Paladins - Mayo, Roderic, Wazuki, Omelet, Mithfir
  • Priests - Ruddiger, Merena, Dempsy, Redken, Syome
  • Warlocks - DM, Wymrory, Thance, Hexxus
  • Shaman - Xunaria, Andrelise, Himiko, Tuon, Matsumi (Recruit)
  • Mages - Tsaleigha, Semirage, Maegwyn, Lhivera, Seolla
  • Druids - Edelia, Olama, Quikbeam
  • Rogues - Loktovar, Crunge, Nayko, Museverte, Klipshi
  • Warriors - Kandar, Creekstone, Darmeus, Kalarr
  • Hunters - Komhaz, Methical, Biggame, Velincia

Kalecgos has been freed!

As for the loot:

Congrats to Tsaleigha on [Bracers of the Tempest], Biggame on [Gronnstalker's Bracers], Darmeus on [Onslaught Wristguards], and Tuon on [Starstalker Legguards].

And now... Recruitment Updates! Today we've got some pretty big updates, so pay attention.

<Order of the Raven>, the long-standing top PvE guild on Aggramar is pleased to announce that we have openings for a number of fine people to fill our ranks. The following are our current recruiting needs:

  • 1 Holy/Disc Priest
  • 1 Tank (Prot Paladin/Prot Warrior/Feral Druid)
  • 1 Warlock
  • 1 Mage (Not frost, please)
  • 1 Elemental Shaman
  • 1 Restoration Shaman

Each of those positions has the same requirements as we've always had: High playtime (5+ nights a week), high-end raiding experience (preferably Black Temple/Hyjal), the best gear that you can get your hands on (PvE, not PvP), excellent knowledge of raiding tactics and class mechanics, the willingness to (and ability to afford) wiping a whole lot while learning new content while also supplying your own consumables, and most importantly a positive attitude.

Additionally, if your class isn't listed but you feel you'd make a good candidate to try out for Order of the Raven, feel free to send in an application. We're always open to exceptional players.

If you feel you fit any of the roles mentioned above, or an exceptional player, head on over to our Recruitment page and send in your application now!

Bear mounts and the Sunwell and recruitment updates - oh my!

Wednesday, April 2, 2008

Hello friends! Long time no update! It's been a busy past few months, farming up Black Temple and Hyjal, doing alt ZA runs, and generally enjoying what really has been the first "break" OTR has been able to take in quite some time. Not that it was a real break - we didn't all hop on a plane to Hawaii to sit on the beach sipping margarita's and reminding the hapless waiters that we wanted no salt - NO salt. Indeed, we spent our time farming up phat lewts and hot epics in BT and Hyjal, but it really was quite relaxing to not have any pressure on ourselves.

But hey, that's over and done with! The Sunwell is open and we're knee-deep in all kinds of wonderful new stuff. On to the news and updates!

First and foremost, congrats go out to Kandar on being OTR's first recipient of an [Amani War Bear] from Zul Aman. Truth be told, most of us aren't terribly big fans of ZA, nor is there much in there gear-wise that is appealing when you're decked out in Tier 6 level gear, which is why we really haven't put a lot of effort into timed ZA runs until recently. Never the less, expect to see many more bear mounts in the coming weeks!

Bear mounts! w00t!

Next, an update on our current status. We've been in the Sunwell since day one, and I'm pleased to say that Kalecgos has us on farm status. Er… yeah. We've been doing good, picked up a couple of nice trash epics and smelting books, and last night we got Kalecgos down to less than 10% on both sides, so he should be dead very, very soon. It's a really great fight, and a very well-tuned fight on top of that. Blizzard did a good job with the Sunwell, and we in Order of the Raven are just happy to finally have something new to do!

Finally, a big recruitment update. That's right folks - here's your big chance to try out for a raiding spot in Aggramar's premier raiding guild! Here's what's up:

Recruitment is now CLOSED to Shadow Priests. Thank you to all of the Shadow Priests who have sent in applications - we really appreciate your time and the effort that you put into your applications.

Recruitment is now OPEN for the following three raid spots:

  • 1 Restoration Shaman
  • 1 Elemental Shaman
  • 1 Feral Druid (tank not dps)

As always, we're looking for raiders with high playtime (5+ nights a week), high-end raiding experience (BT/Hyjal preferred, SSC/TK is ok), the best gear that is available to you (no blue or green machines need apply), extremely good knowledge of your class and the mechanics of the other eight classes, and most importantly a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and adapt to new content and new challenges.

Also as always, even if your class isn't listed as open for recruitment, we are always interested in receiving applications from exceptional players. If you feel that you meet these qualifications, head on over to our recruitment page now and send us your application!

Keep your eyes here soon for upcoming Sunwell kills! Till then, game on!

News and recruitment updates - January 2008

Tuesday, January 22, 2008

Now that we've finally completed all of the content (and we really mean all of the content now - read on) in World of Warcraft, you're probably asking yourselves what the heck we're up to now. I'm sure you are. Even if you aren't, for the sake of this post just pretend you are. Yes... that's right... Scratch your head, look around the room for no reason. I see you there. There we go.

Anyway, we've been keeping ourselves pretty busy. We're actively farming Hyjal and BT to gear up for the upcoming Sunwell Plateau in patch 2.4, working on faster instance clears, and generally enjoying the first real "break" we've had in, well, a long time. Not that it's a real break. We're still raiding, we're still having fun. There's just no pressure now.

In a semi-related note, we went back to AQ40 two weekends ago and cleared the whole place. We finally killed Viscidus, the only pre-BC boss that never was killed on Aggramar. So, like I said above, we really have cleared ALL of the content in World of Warcraft now. Huzzah! Grats to all of the members of the guild who got their first C'Thun experience! Good stuff!

Recruitment Update

We are *still* looking for a hardcore, well-geared Shadow Priest to join our ranks. Not a holy priest. Not a discipline priest. A dark, evil, shadow priest who has good gear (Tier 4 / Tier 5+ please), good raiding experience (SSC/TK experience please), a great attitude, and the willingness to put in the time and effort to raid at a very high level with mature, highly-experienced players.

Think you fit the bill Mister or Miss Shadow Priest? If you do, head on over to our Recruitment page and e-mail a well-written application to us. All applications will be reviewed in a fair, confidential, and timely manner, or else your pizza is free.

That's it for now - keep your eyes glued here for more good things and perhaps more pictures of naked Draenai dancing!

Illidan's Dead - We've beaten the game!

Monday, January 7, 2008

Just about a year ago, The Burning Crusade came out and from that point forward Illidan has been taunting us. Begging us to come kick his ass. Telling us we're not prepared. Turns out he was wrong! He wasn't prepared! Illidan has finally been defeated, and Outland is free from his tyranny!

Illidan has been defeated!

First and foremost, <Order of the Raven> would like to thank EVERYONE on Aggramar who has been kind, appreciative, and has helped us along the way with words of motivation and inspiration. We couldn't have done it without your support!

Now, on to the good stuff. Big grats to Andrelise on [Skyshatter Chestguard] and Kandar on [Onslaught Chestguard] - server first tier 6 chest pieces! Big grats also to Komhaz on [Black Bow of the Betrayer] and Hexxus on [Zhar'doom, Greatstaff of the Devourer]!

But wait! There's more!

After Illidan died, it was time to party! The first to party, as always, was our favorite naked blueberry, Aeshek!

The goggles... they do nothing!

Moments later, Aeshek was flanked by the OTR Spartan Squad, who look like they could use a hug.

The OTR Spartan Squad!

Soon after, the OTR Spirit Squad - which is basically a bunch of crazy naked people and a sexy topless paladin named Mayo - danced on Illidan's corpse because lets face it: we beat the game! It's party time!

The OTR Spirit Squad!

All your base are belong to us.

Archimonde dead! Only Illidan remains!

Friday, December 28, 2007

I know you have been waiting with bated breath for this post to be filled in with a glorious tale of intrigue, battle, and victory. Don't ask me how I know - I just do. I'm awesome like that.

It was, indeed, an epic battle. There was fire, there was fear, and there were people being flung left and right into the air, occasionally coming down with a loud squish (or a cute gnomish "Ooooooof!"). Oh yes, and at the end of all of that burning, fearing, and squishing, the biggest freakin' Eredar you've ever seen dropped dead and spilled out the goodies we've been so eagerly awaiting.

Archimonde: Defeated!

Big grats goes out to Edelia on [Thunderheart Helmet] and Lhivera on [Cowl of the Tempest] (alliance-side first tier 6 helms!). Big grats also goes out to Deathmancer on [Tempest of the Chaos] and Tuon on [Mail of Fevered Pursuit]!

Only one boss remains alive on Aggramar - Illidan. Watch this space for a kill shot of him soon!

Happy New Year! May all of your kills be honorable kills, and may all of your pants drop. ;-)

Illidari Council Defeated! Only Illidan Remains!

Friday, December 14, 2007

Continuing our spectacular rate of progression, in less than seven hours of work, <Order of the Raven> successfully downed the Illidari Council - the only thing standing in our way to facing the very reason for the season, Illidan Stormrage himself.

The Illidari Council: Defeated!

Big grats goes out to Redken on [Breeches of Absolution], Xunaria on [Skyshatter Leggings] (both server first Tier 6 legs!), Seolla on [Cloak of the Illidari Council], and the Guild Bank on [Shadowsong Amethyst]!

But wait! There's more! Do you think we could resist seeing the man at the top of the temple himself? Oh no, we couldn't!

Our pal Akama, now happily back in one sane piece, escorted us up some stairs, and took us to the door to Illidan's terrace:

The entrance to Illidan's terrace. Oooh, scary!

And then... there he was, in all his demonic glory. Illidan Stormrage, the Betrayer, demonic lord of the Outland:

The Ravens, posing with Illidan

He and Akama had a short chat, which wasn't terribly diplomatic and unfortunately ended badly:

Illidan's not bitter... no... not at all!

But, fear not! Illidan said that we were not prepared for him, however I don't think he's prepared for this:

Yes... that is a naked, dancing Aeshek. I'm so sorry.

Our gag reflexes were not prepared!

Best put your affairs in order now, Illidan, for your time is almost up. The Raven's are at your door!
